Internships: HACU National Internship Program (HNIP)

Posted On 28 August, 2020

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is seeking applicants for the 2021 sessions of the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP). This program offers students the opportunity to receive valuable work experience through paid internships at federal agencies and private corporations nationwide. Since 1992, HACU has coordinated more than 13,000 internship placements for students throughout the country. This past spring and summer, our Association worked with agencies to offer virtual internships due to the pandemic. We will continue to adapt our program as needed to offer these important career development experiences for our college students. While it is too early to know the internship format and the number of opportunities that will be offered, we are accepting applications and ask to please encourage students interested to apply early.

The deadline for the spring 2021 session is October 30, 2020.

There is no cost to apply.

HACU matches a student’s career interests, educational background, and previous work or volunteer experience with the needs and demands of our federal and corporate partners. Students receive paid round-trip airfare, housing arrangement assistance, emergency medical insurance, and a biweekly stipend, and attend an intern orientation. Throughout the internship, students also have the opportunity to participate in professional development, networking, and cultural activities.

HACU is committed to providing your students with an opportunity to develop personally and professionally. Partnering with federal agencies and leading corporations has opened the door of opportunities for the best talent from member institutions leading to competitive internships and for some students, rewarding full-time hire opportunities.

Please encourage students from your institution to take advantage of this unique learning opportunity. Download the promotional flyer here. We appreciate your help in distributing this information throughout your campus. Students can apply online at www.hacu.net/hnip.

For questions regarding federal internships, please contact our Washington, D.C. office at 202-467-0893 or at
