Centro La Familia Advocacy Services is hosting an upcoming professionals
training: A Community Convening: Conversations not Heard.
The information shared during this event would be of benefit for any
organization or staff that works directly with the immigrant community.
This Convening will bring together experts to speak about key areas such as
the need for cultural sensitivity when serving the non-citizen immigrant
population, how to overcome the obstacles that language barriers may
create, and education about the different services and shelters available
to victims.
Keynote speaker, Paula Gomez Story, M.Ed., from Casa de Esperanza, a
national resource center and leading organization in the survivor-centered
advocacy will present on Cultural Relevance and Inclusion. In addition we
will have a panel discussion on “obstacles and solutions for providing
shelter to victims” and a second panel “making services more accessible to
non-citizen victims.”
The event will be held on *Thursday, May 16, 2019 – 8:00am-2:30pm at
Wedgewoods Banquet Center, 4582 W Jacquelyn Ave, Fresno, CA. *
