*Reports to: Executive Director *

*Position Summary*
We are looking for a self-starting, caring, passionate, talented and
energetic professional to lead and manage the development program for the
Hope and Heal Fund: The Fund to Stop Gun Violence in California. The person
will lead fundraising strategy working with the Executive Director and the
Steering Committee. The Development and Communications Officer will work
with a small but dedicated team to take the Fund to the next level to build
upon the great momentum we have established during our first two years of
existence. The position will also be responsible for developing effective
communication vehicles and messaging for existing and potential Hope and
Heal donor partners including newsletters and donor updates.

*Essential Responsibilities and Tasks *
*Lead Hope and Heal Fund Development Strategy*

– Develop and execute the Fund’s fundraising and partner development
– Explore new opportunities for partnership and revenue streams while
helping to maintain and grow current partnerships with foundation and
individual donors

*Foundation and Individual Donor Cultivation:*

– Conduct prospect research and prepare briefs
– Update and maintain the development prospecting playbook to ensure
proper records of our foundation relationships
– Help plan and progress outreach strategies for foundation and
individual contacts
– Donor escalation: Assist and in some cases lead outreach to some
current and lapsed donors, and engage new recurring donors
– Manage the End of Year fundraising campaign
– *Event Curation: *Identify new fundraising opportunities including
fundraising events and work with the Program Manager and New Venture Fund
to coordinate events
– Work closely with Steering Committee members and donor partners to
identify potential foundation and individual donor partners

*Manage, Develop and Refine Communications to Donors*

– Develop and implement a strategy for increasing story-telling from
within the Fund to raise awareness on important initiatives and to solicit
interest from potential funders
– Continually update the Fund’s pitch to donors and customize based on
donor interests
– Maintain and update the Fund’s Case Statement and Fact Sheet
– Coordinate and draft quarterly newsletters and donor updates
– Working with the Program Manager, facilitate and make recommendations
for updates to the Fund’s website

*Facilitate the daily operating needs of Development and Grant Management*

– Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms:
– Manage the online donation page, donation records and processing,
and donor outreach
– Manage donor records
– Grant management (for fundraising purposes):
– Responsible for LOIs and proposals in coordination with the
Executive Director and the New Venture Fund
– Support the Executive Director in preparing financial reports
according to grant restrictions
– Coordinate with our fiscal sponsor, New Venture Fund, to maintain
accurate records of grants
– Prepare all materials and agenda ahead of development-related
meetings or donor briefings for the Executive Director and other staff

*Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability *

– Strong writing and research skills
– Quick learner with a passion for gun violence prevention
– Someone who is caring, friendly, passionate and a self-starter
– Proven track record in fundraising
– Five to seven years of experience in development and fundraising
– Superb organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and
track projects on deadline
– Demonstrated ability in computer skills for word processing,
databases, spreadsheets, fundraising software and presentations, and
ability to learn new software packages.
– Preferred experience with Salesforce and/or Salsa CRM
– Ability to work independently and remotely
– Adept team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work
in diverse environments
– A high level of personal energy, dependability, and commitment
– Bachelor’s degree required
– Some travel required
– Able to work remotely from a home office
